Learning About Seeds
It was Hands on Nature today. The kids learned about seeds. They discussed how they travel and what they need to survive. The kids even dressed me up as a seed with a seed coat, embryo, food, and water. During Reading workshop, we read a couple of informational texts about seeds to gather WOW FACTS!

Mat Man
These young writers have been busy learning how to tap out words and write the sounds they hear while writing stories during Writing Workshop. They have been learning how to label important parts of their story illustrations. Today I taught a mini-lesson on how to draw more details with their story characters. Be sure to ask your child how the sing the "Mat Man " song that encourages more detailed illustrations instead of stick figures. Here is a photo of all the kids embellishing their "people " that they practiced drawing today. We took a break from writing in our "Drawing and Writing" books and took to working on white boards. They loved it!
Super Readers
The kids are continuing to build their reading confidence and stamina. Here is the new look to our classroom library. The kids are enjoying many new classroom books and ones that they have made on their own.

Apple Week
Our class is busy learning all about apples. Students will be gathering information about these scrumptious foods during Reading Workshop and writing about them in Writing Workshop. We also have some timely apple math games to do during Math workplace time. Lots of crafts as well during Choice time. The kids will also be baking applesauce on Friday. It's a yummy week already!
Ms. Emily: Our Fun Student Teacher
Ms. Emily comes to learn all about Kindergarten every Thursday morning. Here is a photo of her reading to the class last week.
Hands On Nature
Last week the kids learned about complete and partial metamorphosis. They watched a puppet show loaded with information about this transformation during a butterflie's lifecycle. To culminate this learning, the kids went into the SCS flower gardens and searched for bugs. Here are a few photos from last Thursday.
