We read Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister.  We talked about how friends should behave and act in a positive, friendly community.  They each got a chance to share a part of a shiny scale for their own rainbow fish.

Apple Pattern Prints

With some of the remaining apples from our trip, the kids made apple print patterns today.  Tomorrow they will learn how to name each pattern in a unique way.

Unified Arts Curriculum Night

Please join the K-8 Unified Arts' Teachers for their Curriculum Night on Tuesday, October 21st, from 6:30-7:30PM.
Please meet in the cafeteria prior to going to the classrooms.
The evening will include hand's on activities, demonstrations and performances.  Looking forward to seeing both parents and students!

Journey Team Applesauce

On Friday afternoon, the kids made applesauce all together as a team.  As small groups went to the kitchen to help, the rest of the kids did some learning about apples using a Let's Find Out Reader.  They also completed a name craft.

Worms, Worms, Worms

In Hands On Nature on Friday, the kids learned about soil and worms.  Here are some photos from this really fun time.  They even got to eat worms and dirt.  Yummy!

Superflex Problem Solving Powers

Today the kids got a visit from Ms. Katie, our school counselor.  She is beginning work with them on problem solving skills.  You will be hearing a lot more about Superflex, our social thinking superhero who will help teach the kids strategies to conquer their own not so flexible thoughts and actions. We call these brain invaders the " Team of Unthinkables" 

5 Silly Pumpkins

Last week the kids studied the poem called 5 Little Pumpkins.  We discussed finding the rhymes, counting the words in the sentences, and retelling using motions.  This bulletin board was a fun project that incorporated the tough activity of cutting facial features out of magazines to design their 5 silly pumpkins.
