Totally Terrific Child Begins

Today was the introduction to our Totally Terrific Child Routine.  The kids will be learning more about their peers as each child gets to have a day at which s/he will be honored as Totally Terrific Child.  Here is a photo of the children working on my name write for my totally terrific day.  For each child I plan some sort of literacy activity linked to the Common Core State Standards.  Since they are still getting to know the classroom right now, the lesson focus yesterday was introduction to clip boards as a learning tool.

Peanut Butter, Grape Jelly Snack

After reading the big book called Peanut Butter and Jelly and then revisiting our song Peanut Butter, Grape Jelly, I thought it would be nice to tie in the introduction to the kitchen by setting up a buffet where the kids made their own peanut butter and grape jelly crackers.  They loved it!  I know the kitchen has always brought my family together for fun times and laughter and this did as well with our class today.  A great community building project!  Building a positive community environment is what the goal of our first weeks together will be!  We are off to a great start!

Play Dough Friday

Playing with freshly made play dough.  Fun, fun, fun!  Also, the last photo are our master play dough cookers Jordan and Ms. Elsie.

Friendship & Wonder

Today the kids are bringing home a song called Peanut Butter and Grape Jelly.  They should try to read it or sing it to you using their "tracking finger."  Have fun as a family trying to come up with some other fun combinations for eating PB&J.

First Day Success

I bet that you can tell by your tired child that we had a fun, busy day getting to know each other.  Here are a few photos that I took throughout today.  Everyone did a great job transitioning to school!  A wonderful bunch for sure!
