The kids were great, the weather was wonderful!  A fantastic day community building at the farm!

Letter Study

Last week the kids learned the key cards for f,t, and b.  All three letters are written beginning at the skyline.  Your child will teach you more about this at Open House on Thursday.  Here is a letter sort they did today.

Social Detectives

Today the kids learned about their brains and how they all have smart parts: Art smart, Lego Smart (constructing and planning things),  Music smarts, Play smarts, computer smarts, math smarts, sports smarts, friend smarts, and Social Detective Smarts.  We focused on Social Smarts and they learned that people have thoughts about others and others have thoughts about them.  When we act in expected ways, people want to be with us.  Here are some mobiles that they made to take home today.

Marble Jar Reward

In our classroom, we reward kids for demonstrating positive behaviors.  We use clickers to give the kids"clicks" for when they are showing our three rules: Being Safe, Being Responsible, and Being Respectful.  Our class also earns marbles in a jar as well.  When the jar is filled, they get to earn a reward.  Today they filled the jar for the first time and earned snack outside before having recess.

Fun With Books

OUr Reader's Workshop block is underway!  The kids have learned about all the types of books in our classroom, how to care for them, and most importantly, how to begin reading them.  Here are some photos today from independent reading time.
