Today was Hands on Nature and the kids learned about birds. They had the chance to go to a 5th grade classroom to see chicks that also hatched today. It was a tweety day!

Come Check It Out
The children created a questioning bulletin board last week inspired by the book below. Be sure to come check out your kiddo's work.
Questions, Questions
The kids are learning how scientists and active thinkers ask questions about their world. After reading a great informational text about squids that a student brought in to share today, the children learned how to write question sentences before reading text. Here is a group of kids working during writer's workshop today writing questions on post-it notes. Everyone is doing such a wonderful job with sentence structure!

school and parent community, for key subjects such as upcoming happenings
(budget forum, school play, soccer tryouts, get out the vote, etc.), as
well as help wanted (‘we could use a hand with International Pot Luck cleanup’,
mentoring volunteers wanted, etc.), among other relevant topics.

Leo Lionni Flynn Center Trip
The kids had so much fun watching the three books that we read come alive with puppetry. Since we have been working on opinion writing, the kids each made a puppet of their favorite Leo Lionni character and wrote about why they liked that character this afternoon. I hope to send home their opinion writing pieces from last week along with their puppet today.

A Little Bit of Culture
Today our class was very lucky to have a special guest come in to teach us about Martigras. It was so much fun and the kids got to have "king cake" on the first day back. What a great way to bring in the last 71 days of kindergarten!
Deep Sea Dive
Well we are finally at the end of our sea creature unit. The kids are coming home with things that they made. Here are some pictures of our celebration which we called "The Deep Sea Dive".
